Top Products for Artists

Here at ownable we all have our own hobbies and interests, and we love when we can share them with our customers. I’ve been an artist and designer for most of my life, so here’s some of my top picks for creative tools. People have rented all these products through Just click the name to see more details!

Wacom - Intuos Wireless Graphic Tablet (Medium) with 3 Bonus Software included

This was the first tablet I ever used for graphic design. It’s a great all-around option and works with most drawing softwares on the market. It can connect to your laptop or PC via bluetooth or with a USB plug in. The coolest thing about this tablet? The pen doesn’t need separate charging! It gets its power via electromagnetic resonance technology from the tablet. There is a little bit of a learning curve if you’ve never drawn with a tablet before. But once you get used to looking at your computer screen instead of the drawing surface, the interface is super simple and intuitive.

Apple - Apple Pencil (2nd Generation)

Apple - iPad (Latest Model) with Wi-Fi - 32GB

If you need something a little more portable, especially for drawing or taking notes on the go, then you really can’t beat the apple pencil/ipad combo. The new model features wireless charging and attached magnetically to the ipad, so it’s always right at your fingertips. And with all the different apps available, you’re sure to find one that fits your style. Drawing on the smooth surface takes some practice, but the pressure dynamics are amazing once you get the hang of it. I love that you can double tap the pencil itself with your finger to change tools. It may not seem like a big deal, but just that feature makes drawing so much easier.

Sony - Alpha a5100 Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm Retractable Lens

This camera may be small, but it’s features pack a punch. Because it’s mirrorless, you get all the quality of a larger DSLR in a much more manageable package. We over several different bundles of the body and lenses, or you can purchase each separately. If you want a good all-around lens, I recommend this bundle with the 16-50mm. It’s perfect for various personal photography and video projects. We actually use a similar Sony Alpha for all of our ownable product shoots!

Lenovo - Yoga C740 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 12GB Memory - 256GB Solid State Drive

Editing programs can do a number on your computer if it doesn’t have the memory to handle it. What should be a quick export can take hours, even days without a fast enough processor. This Lenovo laptop has 12GB of RAM, which makes it a great workhorse for heavy software like Photoshop and Premiere. I frequently have several programs running at once and I’ve never noticed a decrease in speed. Its battery life is equally impressive. But what really sets it apart is the ability to work in tablet mode with the touch screen. You can jump from drawing to typing and back with a quick flip of the 360° screen.
